Just been looking through some old documents to figure out a specific date that I came up with the concept of my novel – managed to find the original document, created on 07-03-2013 which means it is more like two and half years old. After recording the original idea, I wrote the first chapter and part of the second and then stopped to the concept mature in my head over time. I kept trying to come back to it and pick it up but was never able to commit to it fully.
Fast forward to around three months ago when I realised I needed to stop just talking about writing and actually get it done. So I sat down and cracked on and on. I think I sat down to it around Chapter Two or Three and I am now at Chapter Fifteen and I have a Prologue that I didn’t before.
Regardless of Word Counts and how many chapters I have, I know which direction my story is taking me and I know roughly which way I need to go with the story to get to the end. The finer, smaller details of the story keep rearing their heads at the appropriate moment, much like this morning. The story has well and truly taken on a life of its own in my head and I am pushing forth in the only way I know how. And with that, I present to you Exhibit A.
